Equine Reciprocal Joints and Hind Limb Stay Apparatus Online Study Group – Stifle and Hock | Thursday, July 31, 2025 | 4-7 p.m. Mountain Time
$90.00
Joints that receive a lot of wear and tear in horses are the reciprocal joints of the stifle and hock. These are both part of the horse’s stay apparatus which is a ligamentous system throughout the body that enables the horse to sleep standing up.
Many of the fascial “meridian” lines are employed in the operation of the stifle and hock. This knowledge is highly useful in the understanding and treatment of soreness in the stifle and hock and the function of the stay apparatus. Using Equine Ortho-Bionomy we can address the stifle and hock with gentle, engaging techniques in a powerful way.

Besides the joints themselves, the tendons, ligaments, muscles and fascia are all involved in the successful movement of the joints. Muscles such as the peroneus tertius connect on the hock and stifle so any movement or restriction in one will affect the other.

We will work with:
- The role of the stay apparatus
- Preferred and exaggerated position
- Fascia lines
This online study group will include videos, charts, a short handout and exploration of the 3D Equine Anatomy app. All materials are available for download by the students. The class recording is available for review after class for a limited time. By enrolling in this class, students agree to not share the information with people outside class.
